Our Mission
To preserve the exclusive use permit system and public access to the Great Sacandaga Lake, thereby ensuring the greatest enjoyment of the lake by all users and bringing benefits to the surrounding communities.
Our Focus
- To protect and maintain the permit system on the Hudson River Black River Regulating District’s buffer lands surrounding the Great Sacandaga Lake, a system which has served the lake community well since 1931.
- To support use and recreation on the Great Sacandaga Lake so the lake may be enjoyed by all users via high-quality public and private beaches, boat launches, access points, and other facilities.
- To provide prompt and effective communication to permit holders, other lake users, and members of the lake community regarding major issues affecting use of and access to the Great Sacandaga Lake.
- To maintain sufficient financial resources to protect and defend the rights of the Great Sacandaga Lake community against actions that could adversely affect the current permit system, public access, and the entire lake community.
As a 501(C)4 not for profit, the Sacandaga Protection Committee is the only organization protecting the legal rights of permit holders, other lake users, and the lake community.
